SERVPRO of Missoula

Act 1, Scene 1

(Thunder and lightning. Enter three witches.)

After such a great opening, Shakespeare’s audience almost didn’t need Macbeth. On second thought, the ghosts, the body count, the verbal sparring…

Our point (and yes, we have one) is that thunder and lightning are attention grabbers, no matter what follows. Any kind of storm, even without the sound effects, is powerful and may be a thing of beauty, especially if it makes a graceful exit.

When the exit isn’t graceful but leaves behind storm damage, call SERVPRO of Missoula at 406-327-9500.

Our emergency services are available all day, every day, so don’t worry about whether it’s a holiday, the weekend, or an inconvenient hour; we are always ready to help our neighbors recover from storm damage.

Timing

A sense of timing is important not just for musicians and athletes. Much of the damage caused by storms get worse as time passes, including water and smoke.

The extent of storm damage may not always be obvious, especially when you’ve experienced the panic from a major storm. The team members at SERVPRO of Missoula are trained to look for specific kinds of damage according to the type of storm. For example:

  • Water (snow, hail, ice) flows to lower points, but not always directly. It follows crevices such as gaps in grout and it soaks into carpet, drywall, insulation, and sheetrock. Water may therefore seem to have traveled upwards because of the material that absorbed it.
  • Smoke travels from warm to cool spots, low to high, and it amasses around metal. Smoke damage, which may arise from fires sparked by lightning, may end up far from the original blaze.
  • If there is excess water around long enough for microbial growth, such as mold, to develop, we will look for all possible sources of excess moisture because mold growth is opportunistic, and the growth, once it starts, is voracious.
  • Cracks in the roof, doors, or windows can allow water or debris to enter the home. Both may cause damage that SERVPRO of Missoula teams are trained to remediate.

Restoration

We also work with you to help restore your home and its belongings to their pre-storm-loss conditions.

We provide a full range of services to make the recovery from loss as stress-free as possible.

Break Time!

Here’s a rough guide to figuring how far you are from lightning:

Since light travels faster than sound, we see the flash from lightning before we hear the bang of thunder. If you count the seconds (1 thousand, 2 thousand, …) from flash to bang, you get the distance in miles that the lightning is from your location.
